Catemaco is an exceptional 9-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred gelding standing a stout and impressive 16.2 hands. He is especially meaningful to us because we bred and raised him, then owned and trained him throughout his racing career. We know his complete history and have a special story to share with those who are seriously interested in him. Catemaco showed tremendous promise on the racetrack and has now been retired from racing for three years. Since leaving the track, we have taken our time restarting him correctly and giving him the solid foundation needed for a successful second career.

 

We have restarted many off-the-track Thoroughbreds over the years, but Catemaco is truly one of a kind. Never have we worked with an OTTB as naturally quiet, sensible, and good-minded as this incredible gelding. He rides beautifully both English and Western and has been thoroughly desensitized to just about everything imaginable. Catemaco confidently carries flags and tarps, drags noisy jugs, and calmly completes these exercises at the walk, trot, and canter—even bridleless. His quiet demeanor, willing attitude, and extensive training make him suitable for most levels of riders.
