Meet Genuine Gem—fondly known as “G”—a stunning 6-year-old AQHA registered grullo gelding standing a stout 14.3¾ hands (just under 15 hands). With his beautiful grullo coat and zebra-striped legs, G is a true head-turner, and he backs up his looks with real training and versatility.
G is a proven all-around horse who is broke to ride, drive, and even knows fun tricks. He has been used extensively on trail rides with riders of varying experience levels and has a forward, ground-covering walk that keeps you moving without constant urging.
In the arena, G is responsive and educated. He knows his leads well, stops, backs, and offers a nice turnaround. He side-passes, has had a rope thrown off him, and has dragged objects—showing the kind of willing, ranchy mindset that makes him useful in many different settings.
G hauls well and settles in quickly, stepping off the trailer the same calm and steady horse you had at home. He confidently rides out alone and is just as comfortable leading a group, riding in the middle, or bringing up the rear. He will also ride away from the group without becoming fussy or anxious.
G has been exposed to wildlife, livestock, farm equipment, ATVs, and real-world trail environments, and he takes it all in stride. He stands quietly in cross ties, single ties well, and is excellent for the farrier.
Because G is responsive and has “buttons,” we recommend him for an intermediate rider or above. He is up to date on deworming, vaccinations, dental work, and farrier care.
