Meet Genuine Gem—fondly known as “G”—a stunning 6-year-old AQHA-registered grullo gelding standing a stout 14.3¾ hands (almost 15 hands). G is the ultimate all-around horse: trained to ride, drive, and even perform tricks, he’s as versatile as they come. With his beautiful grullo coat and zebra-striped legs, he’s a real head-turner wherever he goes.

 

G has been used extensively on a variety of trail rides with riders of all levels. He has a ground-covering walk that keeps you moving forward without constant urging. In the arena, he knows his leads well, stops, backs up, and offers a nice, responsive turnaround. He side-passes, has had a rope thrown off him, and has even dragged things around—showing his willingness to try just about anything.

 

G has been hauled to different locations and steps off the trailer the same calm, steady horse you had at home. With his size and bone, he’s suitable for a wide range of riders. He confidently rides out alone without a fuss and also settles in quietly whether he’s leading, in the middle, or at the back of a group. He’ll ride away from the group if needed without getting fussy.

 

If you ride him regularly, he will only continue to impress you with his willing and versatile personality. He stands quietly in cross-ties and single-ties well to various places. He’s accustomed to wildlife on the trail, livestock in the barn, and farm equipment and ATVs. Nothing seems to phase him.

 

G is responsive and has buttons, so we recommend him for at least an intermediate rider. He’s great for the farrier, has no bad habits, and has been a pure joy to have around. He’s up to date on deworming, vaccinations, dental work, and farrier care.
